Besides knowing Plaza Francia and the imposing view of the south wall, and Plaza de Mulas, main base camp of Aconcagua, we propose to summit in Mt. Bonete (5000 m) and enjoy an exclusive and incredible view of the west face of Aconcagua and its surroundings.

ABOUT THIS TREKKING trekking base camps + MT Bonete

This seven days trekking lets us observe the two most spectacular faces of Aconcagua. We will first walk to Plaza Francia, South Wall base camp. There, after walking through glaciers surrounded by amazing mounts, we´ll enjoy its impressive 3000 mts of altitude .After that we´ll walk a long way up to Plaza de Mulas Base camp, which after such an effort, will reward us with an incredible view of Aconcagua´s West Wall at sunset and it´ll give us the chance to spend some time with mountaineers from all over the world that get ready to reach the summit.And then, we reach the summit of Mt. Bonete (5000 mts) From this mountain we´ll see the awesome Aconcagua west face, as well the huge Plaza de Mulas’ Base Camp. From the Bonete´s summit the surrounding landscape it’s amazing, you could admire the vast expanse of the Andes.The sensation at that moment, we cannot tell. This is a very friendly walk that gives you an exciting experience and a strong encounter with nature. It takes you to the glaciers in Plaza Francia, at the base of the magnificent Southern Wall of the Aconcagua with its 3000 vertical meters.

ITINERARY TREKKING BASE CAMPS + MT BONETE

Previous Day · Mendoza – Altitude: 760 mts.

After you have rested from your flight, we wait for you at INKA EXPEDICIONES office to finalize the arrangements and give you the needed paperwork to go to the permit office and purchase your permit to enter to Park Aconcagua and your bus ticket to Penitentes.Accommodation: Not included – Meals: Not included- Transportation: Not included
Day 01 · Penitentes / Confluencia – Altitude: 3368 mts.

When you arrive to Penitentes you will meet the Guide. After some instructions we will drive you from Penitentes to Horcones, Aconcagua Park Entrance. We start a 3 or 4 hours trekking through the stream of the Horcones river. During the trekking we have a lunch break. Then we continue to Confluencia camp at 3368m. We have Dinner and night rest in tents.
Trekking duration: 4 hs. – Accommodation: Tents –Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Day 02 · Confluencia - Plaza Francia – Altitude: 4.200 mts.

We’ll trek for about 5 hours until we arrive to Plaza Francia, base camp of the impressive Aconcagua South Wall. From this place, Aconcagua, the Stone Sentinel, appears more magnificent and intimidating than ever. We can see the entire South Wall. This is one of the nicest points of the expedition with a breathtaking first view of Aconcagua that you will never forget.
Trekking duration: 6 to 8 hours – Accommodation: Double tents / dome – Meals: Breakfast – Lunch –Dinner.
Day 03 · Confluencia - Plaza de Mulas – Altitude: 4.250 mts.

We will begin our trekking to Plaza de Mulas base camp. After breakfast, we start our walk across “Playa Ancha” . We slowly gain altitude up to the Horcones Superior Valley. After hiking across Playa Ancha and climbing up through a very steep path, “Cuesta Brava” (meaning Rugged Slope), we reach Plaza de Mulas, at 4.250 m. Trekking duration: 8 to 10 hours. – Accommodation: Double tents / dome – Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Dinner.
Day 04 · Rest day at Plaza de Mulas – Altitude: 4250 mts.

The first day in Base Camp is always a rest day. This is a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the Camp and explore the area. We get together with the guides, do a medical checkup, reorganize and review the equipment. Plaza de Mulas is where hundreds of expedition begins the expedition to the summit, so you can talk and share experiences with people of all around the world.
Accommodation: Tent / Dormitory Dome – Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 05 · Ascent to Mt Bonete – Altitude: 5.000 mts.

After breakfast we strat the ascent to Mt Bonete’s summit. From this mountain we´ll see the awesome Aconcagua west face, as well the huge Plaza de Mulas’ Base Camp. The surrounding landscape it’s amazing, you could admire the vast expanse of the Andes. Then we return to Plaza de Mulas.
Accommodation: Tent / Dormitory Dome – Meals: Breakfast, Lunch Box & Dinner
Day 06 · Rest day at Plaza de Mulas – Altitude: 4250 mts.

This day is a rest day and a good occasion to explore the local terrain. We will walk on Plaza de Mulas surroundings overcrossing the Horcones Superior Glacier, always with an incredible view of Aconcagua´s West Wall at sunset.
Accommodation: Tent / Dormitory Dome – Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 07 · Return Plaza de Mulas – Penitentes

After we have breakfast and finish the organization of our backpacks, we began the descent to Horcones. Once we arrive at the Rangers office, a private van will be waiting to transport us back to Penitentes. If we have time enough, we will descend to Puente de Inca and see the magnificent landscape. At Penitentes we wait for our bags. End of services.
Trekking duration: 8 to 9 hours – Meals: Breakfast – Lunch Box. – Transportation: Horcones – Penitentes

NOTE
The proposed itinerary can be changed due to weather conditions o other forced situations that put in risk the group security. The guides have the authority to change the program according to their criteria, to maximize the security based on his knowledge and experience.
